    Margaret Angelucci is a shareholder with the firm and has been in practice since 1994. Since then, she has represented the interests of working people in a variety of capacities. Margaret represents labor unions and individual employees in both the public and private sectors. In the labor context, Margaret’s practice runs the full gamut of the labor-management relationship, including training union staff, union organizing drives, contract negotiations, contract enforcement, grievances, arbitrations, interest arbitrations and unfair labor practice proceedings. Margaret has considerable experience representing firefighter unions, small and large, in communities surrounding Chicago. Her ability to understand and connect with firemen is likely a product of her having grown up in a family of firefighters. Margaret has also represented union pension and health funds in the enforcement of collective bargaining agreements.

    โ€‹In the context of representing individual employees and classes of employees, Margaret has handled a wide variety of matters arising from the employee-employer relationship, including negotiating employment agreements, severance agreements, internal investigations, covenants not to compete, overtime claims, discrimination claims, and enforcement of COBRA and ERISA rights.

    In her practice, Margaret routinely appears in state and federal courts, and before the Illinois Labor Relations Board, Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board, the National Labor Relations Board, the EEOC, the Department of Labor, and various civil service boards.

    Margaret is a member of the American Bar Association. Margaret is a former Chapter Editor for the ABA’s Developing Labor Law and a former Contributing Editor for the ABA publication Discipline and Discharge in Arbitration. She is a former Union Co-Chair of the ABA's Employment Rights and Responsibility Subcommittee. Margaret frequently speaks on labor and employment law issues at the local, state and national levels.

    In 2014, Margaret was elected as a Fellow of the distinguished College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. The College is a non-profit professional association established for the purpose of honoring leading labor and employment lawyers throughout the United States and Canada. Its Fellows are elected by the College’s Board of Governors following an incredibly rigorous screening and peer review process. Fellows are recognized for professional achievement that represents the very highest level of expertise, integrity and leadership in the profession.

    Craig Becker

    Senior Counsel at AFL-CIO

    Craig Becker is Senior Counsel to the AFL-CIO. Prior to his current position, Craig was AFL-CIO General Counsel for approximately 10 years. Prior to that, he served as a Member of the National Labor Relations Board, having been appointed by President Obama in March 2010 and serving until January 2012.

    Before joining the Board, Craig served as Associate General Counsel to both the SEIU and the AFL-CIO. After law school Craig clerked for the Honorable Donald P. Lay, Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and then became a partner in a Washington, D.C. law firm that was counsel to the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.

    Craig was a Professor of Law at the UCLA School of Law between 1989 and 1994 and has also taught at Yale, the University of Chicago and Georgetown Law Schools. Craig has published numerous articles on labor and employment law in scholarly journals as well as in the popular press and has argued labor and employment cases in virtually every federal court of appeals and before the United States Supreme Court.

    Craig graduated Yale College in 1978 and received his J.D. in 1981 from Yale Law School where he was an Editor of the Yale Law Journal.

    Carlie W. Diserio joined Allison, Slutsky & Kennedy in August 2023. Carlie graduated from the West Virginia University College of Law in May 2023 with a concentration in Labor and Employment Law. While in law school, she served as the President of the Labor and Employment Law Society, President of the Democratic Law Caucus, Vice President of the West Virginia Employment Lawyers Association, and Vice President of the American Civil Liberties Union Student Chapter. She was the recipient of the ABA-Bloomberg BNA Award for Excellence in the Study of Labor and Employment Law.

    Carlie externed at the National Labor Relations Board, Region 6 during one semester of law school, where she worked on unfair labor practice investigations, contributed research on bargaining rights amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, participated in ballot count elections, and conducted other research, analysis, and drafting for pending cases. In 2022, Carlie was awarded the Peggy Browning Fund Fellowship. With the fellowship, she worked at the AFL-CIO Office of the General Counsel in Washington, DC. There, Carlie contributed to memos before the National Labor Relations Board, conducted research on post-Dobbs bargaining approaches and election objections, and produced writing analyzing temporary rule changes by federal agencies.

    Since joining Allison, Slutsky & Kennedy, Carlie has worked on arbitrations of contract interpretation and discipline grievances, representation cases at the National Labor Relations Board, unfair labor practice cases at the National Labor Relations Board and the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board, and federal court litigation.

    Carlie was born in West Virginia where she grew up with a strong union background. Carlie graduated from West Virginia University with an undergraduate degree in 2020. In her free time, Carlie enjoys cooking and exploring Chicago.

    Sam Hensel joined Allison, Slutsky & Kennedy in 2024 as an Associate. Before joining the firm, Sam was a law clerk and then associate attorney for another law firm in Chicago that represents unions and workers before becoming a Staff Attorney at a large, predominantly public sector labor union in Chicago. Sam represented that union in numerous arbitrations, in unfair labor practice and representation proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board and Illinois’s public sector labor relations boards, in court, and other forums. He has also conducted trainings for union stewards and staff and advised on internal union affairs governed by federal law.

    Sam also has experience in representing Taft-Hartley funds in collection proceedings, as well as representing individual employees in wage and hour and other claims.

    Jacob Karabell

    Jacob Karabell joined Bredhoff & Kaiser as an associate in 2011 and is now a member of the firm. Jacob’s practice focuses on litigation on behalf of labor unions in an array of labor and employment-related matters. His work includes representing clients in connection with RICO issues; various issues arising under the Labor Management Reporting and Disclosure Act, including union trusteeships and union elections; issues relating to the court enforcement of arbitration awards; and various constitutional issues. In addition to his litigation practice, Jacob serves as labor counsel to the musicians and librarians of the National Symphony Orchestra, and in that capacity participates in negotiations and provides advice on a wide range of issues.

    Prior to joining the firm, Jacob served as a law clerk to the Honorable Harry T. Edwards of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. He also previously worked as an associate in the Washington, D.C. office of Covington & Burling LLP.

    Jacob received his J.D., magna cum laude, from the New York University School of Law in 2009, where he served as an Articles Editor of the New York University Law Review.     George A. Luscombe III is a 2006 graduate of the New York University School of Law. He joined Dowd, Bloch, Bennett, Cervone, Auerbach & Yokich LLP in 2012, and became a partner in 2016.

    Before joining the firm, George practiced as a litigator at a large Chicago law firm and clerked for the Honorable Milton I. Shadur, Senior United States District Judge for the Northern District of Illinois.

    He has broad experience in complex civil litigation in both federal and state courts. George also regularly represents clients before the NLRB and state labor boards as well as in labor arbitrations. He frequently counsels clients on organizing campaigns and internal union governance matters, in contract negotiations, and with regard to legislative initiatives and administrative rulemaking. He also represents clients on issues arising under the Illinois Pension Code, including successfully arguing two constitutional pension cases before the Illinois Supreme Court.

    George is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the United States District Courts for the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois and Courts of Appeals for the Seventh and Ninth Circuits.

    Before beginning his legal career, George was an organizer with the Service Employees International Union.

    Andrew Lyubarsky has been an Associate General Counsel at the AFL-CIO since June 2022, where he has assisted in amicus filings resisting the constitutional attacks on the NLRB’s authority. Prior to joining the AFL-CIO, he was an immigration attorney at a New York City-area public defender, representing detained immigrants, and prior to that, had worked for Bredhoff & Kaiser PLLC, a DC-area labor law firm.

    He has clerked for judges on the Second Circuit and the Southern District of New York, and is a 2016 graduate of New York University School of Law. When in law school, he was a Peggy Browning Fellow at Levy Ratner, P.C. in New York City.

    Wendy Muchman is Professor of Practice at Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law. She has primarily taught classes in Professional Responsibility since 2000, including the standard ABA required course in Legal Ethics. In addition, along with another lecturer, Ms. Muchman developed and currently teaches several innovative ethics courses, including Legal Ethics for the Global Practitioner; Legal Ethics for Business Lawyers; Legal Ethics for the Government and Public Sector Attorney; Ethics in Motion, AI, Technology, and Ethics; and The Law of Whistleblowing. Teaching Awards: In 2019- 2020, she was the recipient of the Robert Childres Award presented annually to the faculty member selected by the student body as the year’s most outstanding teacher. In 2018-2019, she received the award for Outstanding Professors of a Small Class 2018-2019, with Mary Foster.

    Between 1989 and 2019 Ms. Muchman was employed as a bar regulator at the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission of the Supreme Court of Illinois (ARDC), where she most recently served as Chief of Litigation and Professional Education. She investigated and prosecuted innumerable lawyer disciplinary cases including the first contested lawyer-client improper sexual relations case in Illinois, In re Rinella, 175 Ill.2d 504, 677 N.E.2d 909 (1997), and cases involving allegations of civility, conversion, billing fraud, conflicts of interest, and public corruption. In addition, she prosecuted In re Paul M. Weiss, M.R. 27547, 2008 PR00116 (Nov. 17, 2015) where an attorney was disbarred for repeat and egregious conduct of an improper sexual nature to multiple victims. Her job responsibilities at the ARDC included supervision and training of the litigation attorneys and staff as well as presenting workshops regarding professional responsibility and disciplinary law to various national and state bar association groups, law firms, judges and law schools.

    Marc Poulos is the Executive Director of the III FFC. After spending several years in the trades while attending night school, he graduated from Northeastern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor and a certificate in Labor and Employment Law from Chicago-Kent College of Law. While in law school, he clerked for the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 150 Legal Department and later became IUOE Local 150’s Associate General Counsel.
